Josh Thiessen

Teaching Pastor

Josh is a Nebraska native whose family came to the Gretna area in the 1860s. Although he grew up in central Nebraska, he is excited to be back near the homestead.

He came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through the faithful teaching of his parents and is a graduate of The Master's Seminary (M.Div, Th.M.). He enjoys spending time with his wife and four sons.

Josh Sluiter

Assistant Pastor

Josh grew up in Iowa, and graduated from The Master's University in 2018. He serves as youth pastor and leads the Providence music ministry.

He was raised in a Christian home, coming to Christ at a young age. He enjoys serving on the music team alongside his wife and spending time with their son.

Board of Elders

Jay Bahl

Elder

Jay was born in Chicago and moved to Omaha in 1992. He was providentially raised in a Christian household and came to find Providence because of his parents.

Eternally grateful for the gift of faith in the Lord Jesus, Jay loves to serve Christ's church.

In his spare time he enjoys gardening and landscaping the home he & his wife Susan built, being a "lawn care nut", and trips to the dog park with Rizzo.

Joel Jansen

Elder

Joel has lived in Omaha for his whole life except for his college years spent in central Nebraska. He has worked in sales for the last 20+ years.

He was graciously raised in a Christian household and is eternally grateful that the Lord saved him out of the world and into His kingdom. He enjoys reading and spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Gordon Thiessen

Elder

Gordon grew up in Lincoln, just a few miles from Memorial Stadium. Like many young men in the late 1960s, he idolized the Nebraska football program that dominated college football under Bob Devaney. While realizing his greatest goal of receiving a football scholarship from Tom Osborne, the Lord showed him the futility of chasing after dreams that will never last. Through the testimony of friends and teammates, he repented of his sins and placed his faith in Jesus.

That led to spending the next three decades serving with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and coaching high school sports teams.

He co-founded the Kingdom Sports ministry with Ron Brown in 2018 and serves as their director.

Gordon and his wife share 40 years of marriage and four children along with ten grandchildren.
