Providence recognizes Christ as its Head and the Scriptures as its only authority (Colossians 1:18, 2 Timothy 3:16). Under that authority, the oversight of this church is vested in a plurality of elders.
Josh is a Nebraska native whose family came to the Gretna area in the 1860s. Although he grew up in central Nebraska, he is excited to be back near the homestead. He came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through the faithful teaching of his parents. He is a graduate of Excelsior College (B.S.) and The Master's Seminary (M.Div, Th.M.). He enjoys spending time with his family (wife, Ashley and three sons, Owen, Quinn and Silas) and being a member of the Gretna Volunteer Fire Department.
Josh is the pastor of preaching and teaching at Providence. He loves evangelism and seeing how the gospel comes alive in the context of the local church and is reminded of Paul's words to Timothy, "I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching" (2 Tim 4:1-2).
Mike has been married to his wife Lisa for 26 years; they have two sons. Jake is a senior at UNO and Zack is a homeschool senior. Mike was raised in the Chicago area and moved to Southern California where he met Lisa. As newlyweds they lived in Charleston, South Carolina and in 1993 moved to Lisa’s home state of Nebraska.
Mike works as a sales representative for Coram Healthcare, hosts a weekly Men’s Bible study on Friday morning in the family’s renovated barn, and is involved with FCA as a Huddle coach for Bennington High School. He is passionate about the need for God’s people to spend time in His Word daily as we live out the Great Commission; “To know Christ and make Him known.”
